The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has arrested Roberto Gesman Gabison alias “Insik,” a person of interest in the killing of 19-year-old Rhea Mae Tocmo.
Tocmo’s body was found stuffed in a box and left by the roadside in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City on July 28, 2023. She had been strangled to death.
Gabison was arrested in the City of Naga, Cebu Province on July 31, 2023. His alleged involvement in Tocmo’s death was traced through the sale of a mobile phone that contained images and other information about her.
CCPO Chief Police Colonel Josefino Ligan said that Gabison is still being investigated, but that he is considered a person of interest because he was the last person seen with Tocmo before she was killed.
“We are still conducting further investigation, but we believe that Gabison may have been involved in the killing of Tocmo,” Ligan said.
Tocmo’s family is grateful for the CCPO’s efforts in arresting Gabison. They hope that he will be held accountable for his crimes.
“We are relieved that Gabison has been arrested,” Tocmo’s mother, Maria, said. “We hope that he will be brought to justice for what he has done.”
The CCPO is asking for the public’s help in providing any information that could lead to the arrest of Gabison’s accomplices. Anyone with information is urged to contact the CCPO at 032-255-6725.
