The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) has announced that the nomination period for the Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) 2023 has been extended until September 15, 2023.
This is in response to the overwhelming requests from the public who want to recognize the exemplary contributions of volunteers in various fields of development.
The SOV is an annual award that honors individuals and organizations who have rendered outstanding volunteer service to the Filipino people and the nation. The award has six categories: youth, adult, not-for-profit group, corporate organization, government employee, and local government unit (LGU). The LGU category is a special award that is given to LGUs that have successfully mainstreamed volunteerism in their local development agenda.
The PNVSCA encourages the public to nominate volunteers who have made a positive impact in their communities, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The nominees will be evaluated by the Regional Search Committees (RSCs) based on their achievements, innovations, sustainability, and replicability of their volunteer initiatives.
The RSCs will then submit their shortlisted nominees to the National Selection Committee (NSC), which will select the national winners.
The national winners will receive a trophy, a cash prize, and a citation from the President of the Philippines. They will also be featured in various media platforms and invited to participate in national and international volunteer events.
To nominate a volunteer, one must fill out the nomination form and submit it along with the required documents to the respective RSC or directly to PNVSCA for the LGU category. The nomination form and the list of RSCs can be accessed through this link: [https://bit.ly/NominateSOV]. For more information about the SOV and the nomination process, one may visit the PNVSCA website at [www.pnvsca.gov.ph] or contact them at (02) 8831-5937 or [email protected].
The SOV is a joint undertaking of the PNVSCA, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and other government and non-government partners. It aims to promote and advocate volunteerism as a way of life and as a means of achieving national development goals.
