Yap Challenges Chatto for Bohol Congressional Seat

BOHOL, Philippines: Former Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnall “Baba” Yap has announced his bid for Bohol’s first district congressional seat, challenging incumbent Rep. Edgar Chatto.

Yap has secured endorsements from several mayors in the district, including those of Cortes, Corella, Baclayon, Antequera, Calape, and Maribojoc.

Chatto’s camp remains confident, saying “the ball is still round, and we are ready up to Game 7,” according to sources.

Political observers note Chatto’s strongholds in Balilihan, Sikatuna, and Catigbian, while Tubigon remains a potential battleground.

Yap’s alignment with the Abante Bohol party places him alongside Representatives Maria Vanessa Aumentado and Kristine Alexie Tutor.

The race is expected to be competitive, pitting Yap’s youth appeal against Chatto’s political experience.

Meanwhile, speculation surrounds lawyer Jordan Pizarras’ potential entry into the race, which could impact voting dynamics.
