Inabanga, Bohol – Hundreds of residents in Inabanga, Bohol received free medical and dental services from the Tzu Chi Foundation of the Philippines on Saturday, November 18, 2023.
The Medical Dental Mission, sponsored by the Buddhist humanitarian organization and supported by teamINABANGA, was held at the INB Gym from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
According to Inabanga Mayor Jono Jumamoy, the event was a great opportunity for the INaBangnon people to access quality health care without any cost.
“We are very grateful to the Tzu Chi Foundation of the Philippines for choosing Inabanga as one of their beneficiaries. This is a big help for our people, especially those who cannot afford to go to the hospital or the dentist,” Jumamoy said in a Facebook post.
He added that the Medical Dental Mission also aimed to promote health awareness and prevention among the residents.
The services offered included free consultation, free medicine, tooth extraction and cleaning. The beneficiaries also received health education and spiritual guidance from the Tzu Chi volunteers.
Mr. Joven Uy, the Tzu Chi Bohol Deputy Coordinator, said the mission was part of their ongoing efforts to reach out to the less fortunate communities in the province.
“We want to share the love and compassion of our founder, Master Cheng Yen, to the people of Bohol. We hope that through this mission, we can inspire them to live a healthy and happy life,” Uy said.
He also thanked Mayor Jumamoy and teamINABANGA for their cooperation and assistance in making the event possible.
Mrs. Cristina Say, the Dental Mission Head, said that they were able to serve more than 300 patients, mostly children and senior citizens.
She said that they were happy to see the smiles and gratitude of the beneficiaries after receiving their treatment.
“We are glad that we were able to relieve their pain and discomfort. We also taught them how to take care of their oral health and hygiene. We hope that they will continue to practice what they learned and maintain their dental health,” Say said.
The Tzu Chi TIMA Doctors, Staff, Tzu Chi Youth, Volunteers & Scholars, and the team HELP medical personnel also participated in the mission.
Mayor Jumamoy expressed his appreciation to all the people who contributed to the success of the service.
“Thank you to all the Tzu Chi TIMA Doctors, Staff, Tzu Chi Youth, Volunteers & Scholars, and the team HELP medical personnel and all the people who benefit from this service. Continue to work together and unite for the health and welfare of every INaBangnon family,” he said.
