TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol – Mayor Jane Yap of Tagbilaran City has issued a statement to clarify the details of an alleged kidnapping incident that recently occurred in the city.
According to Yap, the incident was reported by the Tagbilaran Police District Intelligence and Law Enforcement (DILE) unit, which said that a teacher from Baclayon town was abducted by unidentified men while she was on her way to work.
Yap said that she immediately ordered the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and the Tagbilaran Police led by Chief Bong Sayon to extend help and intensify police visibility in the city.
However, Yap also said that the teacher, who posted about the incident on social media, later clarified that no kidnapping happened and that she and her family were back safe in their home in Tagbilaran.
Yap said that she had many tags for the “alleged kidnapping” and that she wanted to inform the public of the truth to avoid panic and confusion.
She also said that she was willing to help the teacher and her family if they needed any assistance or protection.
Yap urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
She also asked the netizens to verify the information they share online and not to spread false or unconfirmed news.
