Chatto Rules Out Governor Bid, to Seek Final Term as Congressman
Boholano lawmaker Atty. Edgar M. Chatto on Monday dismissed rumors he plans to run for governor in 2025, saying he will instead seek a third and final term as congressman.
Chatto, who previously served as governor, told DYTR’s Open Forum that he has no intention of returning to the gubernatorial post and will focus on completing his unfinished projects in the first district.
"I have no plans to run for governor because most of the things I wanted to accomplish as governor were already accomplished," Chatto said in an interview with Ardy Araneta-Batoy.
The congressman’s clarification comes after a local newspaper reported that he was considering a gubernatorial bid, with former governor Arthur Yap as his running mate.
Chatto said he is committed to serving his constituents in the first district and will use his final term to complete his remaining projects.
The lawmaker is currently busy with budget hearings in Congress.
