Bohol Police Director Bids Farewell, Set for Regional Post

Bohol provincial police director Colonel Lorenzo Batuan is set to leave his post after a two-year stint, with his successor taking over on Monday.

Batuan, who assumed the role on October 21, 2022, will be replaced by Colonel Arnel Banzon, according to reports.

In a video message circulating on social media, Batuan confirmed his relief and thanked the people of Bohol for their support during his tenure.

During his time as police director, Batuan oversaw several high-profile drug busts, resulting in the seizure of millions of pesos worth of shabu and other illicit substances, and the arrest of numerous suspects.

He also played a key role in implementing the "Libreng Alagad ug Balay" project, which provided homes to underprivileged individuals with the support of the provincial government.

Batuan cited the importance of community involvement during his tenure, focusing on community relations and overseeing the inauguration of a new building at the provincial headquarters and officials’ barracks, built with the help of then Senator Sonny Angara and supported by Congressman Edgar Chatto.

Batuan will assume a new role as Regional Community Affairs Development Chief for Central Visayas.
