Catigbian Mayoral Candidate Benjie Oliva Joins Ruling Party, Vows Support for Chatto

Catigbian, Bohol – Benjie Oliva, a mayoral candidate in Catigbian, Bohol, has confirmed joining the ruling Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) chaired by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

In an interview with Ardy Araneta-Batoy over DYTR’s "Newsmakers ug Uban Pa" episode, Oliva announced his decision to join the PFP, but reiterated his support for Congressman Edgar Chatto, a stalwart of the opposition National Unity Party (NUP) and member of the Alyansa ng Bagong Pilipinas coalition.

Oliva’s group, Uswag Catigbian, will support incumbent officials seeking reelection who are members of the coalition, including Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado and first district board members Benjie Arcamo, Aldner Damalerio, and Lucille Lagunay.

Oliva, who is running to replace incumbent Mayor Elizabeth Mandin-Pace, will be joined by incumbent Vice Mayor Esteban Angilan and five other incumbent councilors, as well as newcomers and returnees.

The group’s support is based on the principle of equity for incumbent officials, Oliva said, adding that Chatto is the coalition’s official candidate, along with Aumentado.

Oliva expects President Marcos Jr. to visit Bohol to campaign for the coalition’s official candidates, including senatorial candidates.
