Candijay Mayor Won’t Seek Re-election in 2025

Candijay, Bohol Mayor Thamar Olaivar announced Monday she will not seek re-election in the 2025 midterm elections.

In an emotional speech, Olaivar informed the people of Candijay of her decision during a gathering of local leaders, supporters, residents, barangay officials, and local government unit officials at the municipal gymnasium.

Olaivar was accompanied by her husband, Department of Education Undersecretary Trgyve Olaivar, during her public announcement.

The mayor cited family as the primary reason for her decision not to run in the next election.

But reports have also surfaced that Mayor Olaivar has unsettled conflict with 3rd District Rep. Alexie Tutor, whose husband is the vice-mayor of the town.
