A large python snake has been captured after it entered BQ mall, a shopping center in Tagbilaran City, causing widespread anxiety among customers.
A video of the incident, which took place on November 6, 2024, has gone viral on social media, showing several men attempting to subdue the reptile.
The snake, which managed to evade its captors initially, was eventually contained safely.
However, the incident left some shoppers shaken, with reports of screams and panic inside the mall.
It remains unclear how the snake entered the mall or where it came from.
An investigation is likely to be launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The incident is not an isolated one in the region. Bohol, where the mall is located, has experienced several instances of snake incursions in recent times. In some cases, snakes have been found in homes, including bedrooms, and have even bitten residents.
In one tragic incident, a young girl in Loon died after being bitten by a venomous snake that had entered her home.
The hospital she was taken to initially did not have any stock of anti-venom, signaling the need for better preparedness in dealing with such incidents.
