SORSOGON — Bishop Arturo Bastes, a native of Bohol, was laid to rest on Oct. 30 in Sorsogon, according to reports.
The bishop’s remains were kept at the Sorsogon Cathedral for a few days before the funeral.
Bastes, 75, died on Oct. 20, days after being involved in an accident in Lila town, reports said.
Several Boholanos, including Tagbilaran Bishop Alberto Uy, traveled to Sorsogon to pay their respects to the late bishop.
Bastes, a native of Loboc, Bohol, was known for his advocacy on environmental and human rights issues.
According to Canon Law, a bishop is typically buried in the diocese where he last served.
