Bohol Water Utility Revives Old Sources to Boost Supply

A water utility company in Tagbilaran has begun to revive old sources of water in a bid to improve supply to its customers.

Bohol Water Utilities Inc. (BWUI) has reactivated a pumping unit in barangay Cogon, Tagbilaran City, which had been out of commission for some time. The unit, known as pumping unit no. 13, was brought back online on October 22, 2024.

According to Victor Tambis of BWUI, the reactivation of the unit will enable the company to serve more customers and improve water pressure in the areas of barangay Cogon and Booy.

Residents in these areas had previously experienced low water pressure and, on occasion, had to rely on water trucks to deliver water to their homes.

The move is part of BWUI’s program to develop both new and old sources of water to meet the growing demand for this essential resource.

The company has not disclosed how much the reactivation of the pumping unit will cost or how it will impact water prices for customers.
