The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) is working to craft an ordinance that would establish a drug rehabilitation center in the province, a move that comes in response to growing public demand for such a facility.
The proposed ordinance, which has been pending for some time, will address the need for a local rehabilitation center, where individuals struggling with addiction can receive treatment and support.
The need for a drug rehabilitation center in Bohol has been highlighted by recent incidents, including the killing of a nurse by a person with a history of drug use at a hospital in Tagbilaran.
Currently, Boholanos who require rehabilitation must travel to other parts of the country to access treatment, a situation that the proposed ordinance seeks to address.
The measure is currently being refined and will soon be referred to the appropriate committee for further review and consideration.
If passed, the ordinance would provide a much-needed resource for individuals and families affected by addiction in the province.
