The provincial government of Bohol has submitted a proposed budget of at least P4.4 billion pesos for 2025, a 10 percent increase from the previous year’s budget.
The executive department presented the proposed budget to the provincial lawmakers during last week’s regular session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP), with the aim of implementing various plans, programs, and projects.
The increase in the proposed budget is attributed to the rise in the National Tax Allocation (NTA), formerly known as the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA), as well as additional revenue from other sources.
The budget is expected to focus on generating employment opportunities, livelihood, social services, and healthcare, as well as supporting agriculture and food security.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan is set to conduct marathon budget hearings next month, where department heads will be required to defend their respective budgets.
The proposed budget is seen as a major component of the provincial government’s development plans for 2025.
