The Philippine National Police (PNP) has begun a reshuffle of personnel in Bohol province as part of efforts to ensure neutrality during the upcoming election season.
Under the reshuffle, police officers with relatives running for public office in their area of assignment will be temporarily reassigned to prevent any potential electioneering, Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) spokesman Lt. Col. Notman Nuez said.
The reassignment applies to officers with relatives up to the fourth degree of consanguinity who are running for public office in the same area where they are assigned. They will return to their original posts after the election season.
BPPO is still determining the number of officers affected by the reshuffle, which is part of the PNP’s efforts to maintain its neutrality in the electoral process.
The move will prevent any potential bias or influence by police officers on the outcome of the elections, as the PNP is supposed to remain non-partisan.
