Cong. Chatto Laments Over Bohol Hospital Tragedy, Calls for Probe

Bohol 1st District Congressman Edgar M. Chatto expressed shock and dismay over a tragic incident at Bohol Doctors Hospital in Tagbilaran City, where a nurse was murdered by a patient on Thursday.

In an interview with DYTR’s Ardy Araneta-Batoy, Chatto described the incident as unprecedented and called for a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing.

"Hospitals are supposed to be safe spaces, and it is the responsibility of the authorities to ensure that both patients and healthcare professionals are secure," Chatto said.

The congressman cited the need for a thorough probe to establish protocols that would prevent such incidents from happening again and ensure that healthcare facilities remain safe.

Chatto also expressed hope that justice would be served and the perpetrator would be held accountable under the law.

In a separate development, Chatto also commented on a recent incident where a young girl from Loon died after being bitten by a poisonous snake.

He reiterated his long-standing call for the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Medical Center to maintain an adequate stock of anti-venom serum, citing a previous case where a patient died due to the lack of the antidote.

Chatto urged the public to seek immediate medical attention at hospitals equipped with anti-venom, specifically recommending the Gallares hospital, which he said has assured him of having a sufficient supply of the serum.
