CAMACHO SET FOR UNOPPOSED RE-ELECTION IN GETAFE
Incumbent Getafe, Bohol Mayor Caryboy Camacho is poised to win re-election unopposed, with no challenger emerging to contest his bid for another term.
In a rare and unprecedented development, Camacho’s entire ticket is also running unopposed, marking a first in the town’s 40-year history of contested elections.
Sources close to the mayor’s camp confirmed that Camacho and his running mate, Vice Mayor Casoy Camacho, will face no opposition in next year’s polls.
The Camacho family has dominated local politics in Getafe for years, with the incumbent mayor’s relatives holding key positions in the town. However, this is the first time that the family’s grip on power has gone unchallenged.
In the past, even family members have clashed in elections, but this time around, observers note that relationships appear to have been patched up.
The absence of an opposition bloc in Getafe has raised eyebrows, with observers wondering what led to the lack of challengers to the incumbent administration.
