Albur, Bohol Mayor Buates Makes U-turn, to Run for Re-election

ALBUR MAYOR BUATES MAKES U-TURN, TO RUN FOR RE-ELECTION

Alburquerque, Bohol Mayor Don Ritchie Buates has made a surprise u-turn in his election plans, opting to run for re-election as mayor instead of vice mayor, sources close to the mayor said.

Buates had initially planned to run for vice mayor, with his wife Jackie set to take his place as mayor.

However, he made the switch just in time to meet the October 8 deadline for filing candidacies.

The mayor is now gunning for his third and final term as mayor, with Jose Dompol as his running mate.

His wife Jackie will instead run for a seat on the Sangguniang Bayan.

Buates will face off against Michael Mantiza, who is running with Dagohoy Zamar as his vice mayoral candidate.

Elias Hipos is also in the running for the top job.

The sudden change in plans has injected new excitement into Albur election campaign, with Buates seeking to extend his tenure as mayor.
