Tagbilaran City Health Office to Address Mental Health Issues

CITY FOCUSES ON MENTAL HEALTH AHEAD OF WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

The Tagbilaran City Health Office (CHO) has launched a new program to address mental health issues, a spokesman said, as the city marked World Mental Health Day recently.

Robin Culpa, CHO spokesman, revealed the CHO’s new focus on mental health during a dtyr interview over "Newsmakers ug Uban Pa" with Ardy Araneta-Batoy.

The program is part of the city’s celebration of National Mental Health Week, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and reduce stigma around mental illness.

A motorcade was held as part of the activities to generate awareness about mental health, Culpa said.

"There is a need to bring mental health into the open and discuss it in public," Culpa said. "People should be aware of the importance of mental health and know how to get treatment, without stigmatizing those who suffer from mental health issues."

Culpa pointed out that taking care of one’s mental health is just as important as physical health, and that the city government has lined up programs to help those struggling with mental health issues.
