TAGBILARAN CITY – Cogon Barangay Captain Geneson Balbin has filed his certificate of candidacy for vice mayor of Tagbilaran City under the Aksyon Demokratiko party.
Earlier reports had indicated that Balbin would run under the slate of City Councilor Atoy Torralba, but the barangay captain has instead opted to file his candidacy separately.
Balbin’s decision to run for vice mayor comes as no surprise, given his strong track record as barangay captain of Cogon, which has the largest number of voters in the city.
In the previous election, Balbin defeated the brother of 3rd District Rep. Alexie Tutor and the son of Philippine Councilors League President Nick Besas, Gian Besas.
According to sources, Balbin is being supported by Atty. Jordan Pizarras, who is running for congressman in the province’s first district.
