The Provincial Capitol of Bohol paid tribute to the late Atty. Jose "Joevels" Echavia Veloso, a former Board Member of the 1st District of Bohol, through a necrological rites held at the Capitol Lobby.
The program began with a video presentation showcasing the late Veloso’s memorable moments, followed by heartfelt messages from his colleagues and friends.
SP Secretary Bonifacio Quirog highlighted Veloso’s remarkable work as a Board Member, citing his authorship of 1,556 resolutions and 61 ordinances, one of which is the official schedule of the regular session.
Quirog also praised Veloso’s commitment to a GMO-free Bohol and his talents as a songwriter, musician, and author.
Board Member Aldner R. Damalerio, along with Governor Aris Aumentado, Provincial Administrator Aster Caberte, SP Secretary Quirog, and Board Members Tomas D. Abapo Jr. and Vierna Mae F. Boniel, presented Provincial Resolution No. 2024-946 to the bereaved family of the late Veloso, expressing deepest sympathy and condolences for his passing and rendering posthumous tribute for his contributions to the province.
One of Veloso’s children read from his book, "Born to Serve," which chronicles his life as a son, father, artist, and politician.
The ceremony concluded with a holy mass celebrated by Fr. James Darunday.
