The Tagbilaran City Council has passed a resolution requesting City Mayor Jane Yap to grant temporary special permits to several transport groups to ply routes to the Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School (DCPNHS) campus in barangay Cabawan.
The proposed resolution, number 237-24, series of 2024, was unanimously approved during a joint session with the Sangguniang Barangay of Manga, led by City Vice-Mayor Adam Jala and Punong Barangay Nilo Lumantas.
City Councilor Jonas Cacho, chairman of the Committee on Energy, Public Utilities, Franchises and Transportation, sponsored the resolution, which aims to address the transportation needs of students and employees of the DCPNHS.
The transport groups recommended for temporary special permits include the DATODA transport corp., which will operate on the J.A. Clarin Street-ICM-IBT-Coop Hospital-Binayran Road to DCPNHS Cabawan route; the Bohol Transport Cooperatives, which will operate on the Plaza-Rizal-Manga-Cabawan DCPNHS via Tiptip Estabo road; and the TAJETCO transport group, which will operate on the Lindaville Phase 2-San Isidro-DCPNHS-Cabawan route.
A total of 15 units from these transport groups are recommended for temporary special permits, which will be granted by the local government of Tagbilaran,
The move is seen as a solution to the lack of transportation options for students and employees of the DCPNHS, which has established a campus in barangay Cabawan.
