The Philippine national government has completed P400 million worth of flood control projects in several towns in Bohol’s third district, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Wednesday.
The projects, funded by the General Appropriations Act, were undertaken to mitigate flooding in the towns of Garcia-Hernandez, Jagna, Duero, and Alicia.
DPWH inaugurated the projects in a ceremony attended by local and regional officials.
The completed projects include works on the Manaba River in Garcia-Hernandez, the Alijawan River in Jagna, and rivers in Duero and Alicia.
The projects are designed to reduce the damage caused by floods in the affected areas and benefit Bohol residents.
The completion of the flood control projects is part of the government’s efforts to improve disaster resilience in the country, which is prone to natural disasters such as typhoons and floods.
