DOLE Raises Minimum Wage in Central Visayas

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Central Visayas has approved a new wage order, raising the minimum wage for private sector workers in the region.

According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the new wage rates will take effect on October 2, 2024.

RTWPB-7 last issued a wage order on October 1, 2023.

The new wage rates will range from P501 pesos per day for Class A for Class B areas, and P453 for Class C areas.

Class A areas include major cities such as Cebu, Lapulapu, and Mandaue, while Class B areas comprise other cities such as Dumaguete and Tagbilaran.

Class C areas cover other municipalities not classified under Class A and B.

DOLE said the increase represents a 7-8% hike from the prevailing daily minimum wage rates and will result in an 11% increase in wage-related benefits, including 13th-month pay, service incentive leave, and social security benefits.

The wage increase is expected to benefit thousands of private sector workers in Central Visayas.
