PSA Warns of National ID Scams

PSA WARNS OF NATIONAL ID SCAMS

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Thursday warned the public about scams targeting holders of the national identification card, denying reports of government financial aid distribution to cardholders.

PSA said in a statement that social media posts claiming national ID holders are eligible for government aid and must submit their credentials via a form are false.

The agency clarified that it has no program providing financial assistance to the public.

PSA also reminded the public that registration for the national ID system is free of charge, and urged citizens not to share false information that could facilitate scams.

The warning comes as scammers attempt to take advantage of the public’s trust in the national ID system.

PSA appealed to the public to be cautious and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
