Authorities have identified two persons of interest (POI) in the murder of a barangay councilor in Jagna, Bohol, officials said Thursday.
Edilberto Bahala, a councilor of Nausok barangay, was killed by unknown assailants last week.
The Jagna Police Station declined to disclose the identities of the suspects, citing the ongoing investigation.
However, police said that witnesses’ testimony and other evidence, including CCTV footage, led them to identify the two suspects.
According to police, the suspects are not from Jagna and have no known connection to the victim, sparking speculation that they may be professional hitmen or "gun-for-hire" operatives.
The police are continuing their investigation into the murder, which has sent shockwaves through Jagna town.
