COMELEC Urges Eligible Citizens to Register for 2025 Elections as Deadline Looms

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has renewed its call for eligible Filipino citizens to register for the 2025 polls, with the deadline for registration fast approaching.

Tagbilaran Election Supervisor Rocco Lamanilao reiterated the appeal, urging those who have reached or will turn 18 by election day to register in order to exercise their right to vote.

The deadline for registration is September 30, 2024, after which the COMELEC will begin accepting certificates of candidacy from October 1-8, 2024.

According to Lamanilao, those who wish to transfer or reactivate their election records can visit the nearest COMELEC office to do so.

As of now, there are no indications that the COMELEC en banc will extend the voter registration period.

Lamanilao estimated that the number of registered voters in Bohol could reach 1 million once the election registration board meets on October 14, 2024.

He also advised potential candidates to inquire about the requirements for filing their certificates of candidacy before the deadline.

The COMELEC’s call comes as the country prepares for the 2025 election, which is expected to be a crucial verdict of Pres. Marcos’s performance in his last 3 years in office.
