BUENAVISTA MAYOR SEEKS DIALOGUE ON ELECTRICITY ISSUES
BUENAVISTA, BOHOL – Municipal Mayor Atty. Dave D. Duallo has formally requested a meeting with Governor Erico Aristotle C. Aumentado to address pressing electricity concerns affecting residents of Buenavista.
In a letter dated September 13, 2024, Mayor Duallo highlighted three main issues:
- A sharp increase in electricity bills
- Persistent problems with low and high voltage power supply
- Frequent brownouts disrupting daily life
The mayor noted a "noticeable disparity" between services provided by BOHECO II and BOHECO I, with BOHECO II customers facing "escalating costs and unreliable service."
"This situation not only affects household budgets but also impacts local businesses and overall community morale," Duallo wrote.
The letter requests a dialogue involving Governor Aumentado, the manager of BOHECO II, and mayors from other affected municipalities.
Mayor Duallo said he wants to gain clarity on reasons behind recent bill increases, discuss voltage fluctuation issues, and seek solutions to frequent power outages.
Duallo cited the need to understand why BOHECO I consumers do not experience similar problems, suggesting that identifying BOHECO I’s best practices could provide insights for improvement.
"I believe that through open communication and collaboration among local government officials, utility managers, and stakeholders, we can work towards finding effective solutions," the mayor stated.
The letter has been copied to Bohol Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BOHECO II), indicating the coop’s intended involvement in addressing these concerns.
