Jagna, Bohol Mayor Joseph Rañola welcomed on Feb. 13 the Boctol Vegetable Growers Association (BOVEGA) from Barangay Boctol, Jagna, who paid him a heartfelt courtesy call. The association, led by their president Marites Rojas, thanked the mayor and the Local Government Unit (LGU) for their unwavering support to their livelihood.
Mayor Rañola appreciated BOVEGA’s gesture, saying that they were the first association in Jagna to personally show gratitude through a courtesy call for the help they received from the LGU.
He also praised the cooperation between the LGU and BOVEGA, recalling that in September 2023, the association benefited from the assistance of the Department of Agriculture. BOVEGA received 280 heads of native chicken, which they raised with the help of the LGU. The LGU, under Mayor Rañola’s leadership, supported the association by building chicken houses through the Cash for Work program.
The LGU also provided other resources, such as feeds, vitamins, an incubator, generator, hatcher, nets, and tarps, to ensure the success and sustainability of BOVEGA’s poultry project.
BOVEGA President Marites Rojas expressed her gratitude, saying, “Suklian gyud namo ang kakugi sa tanang nahatag ni Mayor sa amoang association, mapasalamaton gyud me kaayo.” (We will truly reciprocate the hard work for all that Mayor has given to our association; we are sincerely thankful.)
The main objective of BOVEGA is to sell chicken meat, eggs, and chicks, which has become a reliable source of income for the association. The concrete support from the LGU has not only empowered BOVEGA but has also inspired other associations in the community.
As BOVEGA continues to grow, Mayor Rañola expressed hope that their success would positively influence other local associations. The LGU remains dedicated to supporting community-based initiatives that promote the development and well-being of Jagna. (PRESS RELEASE)
