On January 23, 2024, 102 persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Catigbian town received wheelchairs and crutches from Pamayanang Handa Community Advocates for Resilient, Empowerment and Services (PH Cares) and Rotary Club of Pasay Cyber City.
The distribution was part of the medical mission and wheelchair distribution program held at Baang Gymnasium in barangay Baang, Catigbian. The program was also a birthday celebration for Benjie Oliva, a proud Catigbianon and the president of Rotary Club of Pasay Cyber City. Oliva, who formerly served as the Administrator of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), said he wanted to give back to his hometown by providing assistance to the PWDs.
The beneficiaries came from 14 barangays under the Santo Niño Parish based in Baang, Catigbian. They received a total of 86 wheelchairs and 16 crutches from PH Cares and Rotary Club of Pasay Cyber City.
The program was attended by Catigbian Mayor Elizabeth Mandin-Pace, First District Board Member Aldner Damalerio, who represented First District Congressman Edgar Chatto, Governor Aris Aumentado, and the 14 barangay captains.
Aside from the wheelchair and crutch distribution, around 500 residents also benefited from the medical mission organized by PH Cares, Rotary Club of Pasay Cyber City, and the Provincial Government of Bohol.
