Anda, Bohol: The ceremonial turn-over and distribution of SAAD interventions in Anda was a success. The Department of Agriculture (DA) – Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Phase 2 project and program were handed over to the NMBA and NAGMATA associations. Hon. Mayor Angelina “Inday” Simacio, who leads the local government unit, expressed her full support to these transformative initiatives.
The event was attended by key figures from Anda’s Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), including OIC Mrs. Aida Visaya and CRM Designate/MAO employee Mr. Gil Gultiano. Miss Mary Jean Makinano represented the Mayor’s Office.
The SAAD is a locally funded project under the Department of Agriculture that targets the marginalized sectors of agriculture and fisheries. In Anda, it provides a great help to Barangay Buenasuerte and Barangay Tanod.
The program, spearheaded by DA SAAD Area Coordinator Ms. Maria Malarijes, aims to provide vital agricultural interventions. Various animals and crops, as well as livelihood support and farming equipment such as wheelbarrows, insecticides, sticky traps, garden trowels, plastic mulch, and banana nylon twine, were distributed.
This initiative showcases the strong collaboration between local authorities – Barangay Officials & LGU Anda, agricultural offices, and the Department of Agriculture. Together, they are promoting sustainable development and improving the living conditions of their fellow Anda residents.
