PANGLAO, Bohol – A roofing installer from Tagbilaran City was arrested for allegedly selling shabu worth P1.4 million in a buy bust operation in Panglao town on December 17, 2023.
The suspect was identified as Juvie Mortejo, 31, who lives with his partner in Purok 5B, Taloto, Tagbilaran City.
According to PCapt. John Khalev Sanchez, chief of Panglao Municipal Police Station, they received a tip from an informant that Mortejo was peddling shabu in Panglao.
Sanchez said they conducted a surveillance operation and confirmed that Mortejo was indeed involved in illegal drug activities.
He said they then arranged a buy bust operation in Barangay Tangnan, where Mortejo agreed to meet with a poseur buyer.
During the transaction, Mortejo handed over a large pack of shabu weighing about 200 grams to the undercover agent in exchange for P1 million.
The police then arrested Mortejo and recovered the marked money and the shabu.
Sanchez said they also found another pack of shabu weighing about 10 grams inside Mortejo’s motorcycle, which he parked near the buy bust site.
The total weight of the seized shabu was 210 grams, with an estimated street value of P1.4 million, Sanchez said.
Mortejo is now detained at the Panglao Municipal Police Station and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
