Modala Resort, a luxury eco-friendly resort in Panglao, Bohol, Central Visayas, Philippines, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Sean Ybañez as its new General Manager.
Mr. Ybañez joined the Modala team on October 1, 2023, and has since been inspiring the staff with his passion for hospitality and dedication to the industry.
Mr. Ybañez has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality sector, having worked in various roles and locations across the Philippines and Singapore. He started his career as a bellboy at Plantation Bay Resort in Cebu, where he learned the ropes of customer service and hotel operations. He then moved on to work at Shangri-La Mactan, one of the most prestigious resorts in the country, where he honed his skills in sales and marketing.
Mr. Ybañez also had the opportunity to work abroad at Traders Hotel Singapore, a four-star hotel under the Shangri-La group, where he gained valuable insights into the international market and standards. He returned to the Philippines as the Director of Sales and Marketing at Crimson Resort & Spa, a five-star beachfront resort in Mactan Island. He was instrumental in increasing the resort’s occupancy and revenue, as well as launching innovative campaigns and promotions.
Mr. Ybañez then ventured into the boutique hotel segment, joining Gana Siargao as its General Manager. Gana Siargao is a chic and cozy resort that offers guests a relaxing escape in the surfing paradise of Siargao Island. Mr. Ybañez successfully managed the resort’s operations and finances, while also ensuring guest satisfaction and loyalty.
Prior to joining Modala Resort, Mr. Ybañez was the General Manager of Duros Hotels Incorporated, a local hotel chain that operates four properties in Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City. He oversaw the strategic direction and performance of the hotels, as well as led the development and implementation of new projects and initiatives.
As the new General Manager of Modala Resort, Mr. Ybañez is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the resort’s management, including operations, sales and marketing, human resources, finance, and guest relations. He also aims to enhance the resort’s reputation as a premier destination that offers guests truly unforgettable experiences while bringing them closer to nature.
