Young Hero’s Body Retrieved From Sea in Albur after Saving his Friend from Drowning

The body of a 20-year-old man who saved his friend from drowning was retrieved from the sea on Saturday afternoon, October 2, 2023.

Jhon Cyril Sentorias Tanginan, a resident of Barangay Libjo in Sikatuna, Bohol was found by the rescuers of the Philippine Coast Guard, Tarsier 117, Tagbilaran CDDRMO, Albur PNP and other individual divers who helped in finding the victim.

According to the report, Tanginan’s body was found at 12:04 p.m. in a spot which is also near the area where they swam.

Tanginan and his friend Ariel Duavis, also 20 years old and from the same barangay, went swimming at the port in Poblacion West of Albur, Bohol on Friday afternoon, October 1, 2023.

Duavis reportedly drowned while swimming and Tanginan rescued him.

Duavis survived but Tanginan went missing because of the strong waves that swept him away.

The rescue operation was suspended on Friday night due to the dangerous situation at sea and resumed on Saturday morning.

Tanginan’s family and friends mourned his death and hailed him as a hero for sacrificing his life to save his friend.

They also thanked the rescuers and the authorities for their efforts to recover his body.
